Dann zog er nach London und gründete die New Southgate High School. 1907-1912 war er Geografielehrer an der William Ellis School. 1912-1935 war er an der University of London Institute of Education tätig. Neben seiner Lehrtätigkeit bekleidete er eine Reihe einflussreicher Positionen an der University of London und der Geographical Association (1935 war er Präsident).
