Biblio: Nach der Promotion 1981 an der Universität Hamburg über Überzeugungssysteme der Künstlichen Intelligenz arbeitete Katharina Morik in dem Projekt, das an der Universität Hamburg das Hamburger anwendungsorientierte natürlichsprachliche System HAM-ANS entwickelte. An der TU Berlin übernahm sie 1985 die interne Projektleitung für das Verbundprojekt LERNER, in dem das erste deutsche Wissenserwerbssystem, das maschinelles Lernen integriert, entwickelt wurde. Ihre Ausrichtung, ein solches System als Assistenten für den Wissensingenieur zu konzipieren (sloppy modeling), führte sie nach der Habilitation an der TU Berlin (1988) im Rahmen des ESPRIT-Projektes "Machine Learning Toolbox" bei der Gesellschaft für Mathematik und Datenverarbeitung in St. Augustin fort. 1991 nahm sie den Ruf auf die C4-Professur im Fachbereich Informatik der Universität Dortmund an, an der Sie bis heute tätig ist. Seit Januar 2011 Mitarbeiterin und Sprecherin bei dem SFB 876.
