Volodymyr Kubijovyč, also spelled Kubiiovych or Kubiyovych (Ukrainian: Володи́мир Миха́йлович Кубійо́вич, romanized: Volodymyr Mykhailovych Kubiiovych; 23 September 1900, Nowy Sącz, Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria – 2 November 1985, Paris, France) was a anthropological geographer, a highly recognized academic in prewar Poland and devoted Ukrainian nationalist of mixed Ukrainian and Polish ethnic background. During the war Kubiyovich headed the social welfare and the economic committee called UCC. In 1943, he was a founder of the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS. Kubijovyč was a supporter of the OUN-M, Andriy Melnyk's faction in the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists. After the collapse of Nazi Germany, Kubiyovich settled in France. He later became the chief editor of the Encyclopedia of Ukraine and the Secretary General of Shevchenko Scientific Society. Kubiyovich also supported other projects of the Ukrainian diaspora. He died in Paris on November 2nd, 1985. (Source: DBPedia)
