B:1947 Biblio: Studierte Physik an der Technischen Universität Dresden. An der TU Ilmenau promovierte er mit einem Thema zur Informatik und habilitierte sich mit einer Arbeit über Künstliche Intelligenz in Suchmaschinen. Nach mehreren Jahren der Forschung im Bereich des Information Retrieval und der Künstlichen Intelligenz arbeitete er als Leiter der Softwareentwicklung im Hahn-Meitner-Institut Berlin und erhielt 1992 einen Lehrauftrag für Wirtschaftsinformatik an der HWR Berlin. Er ist Autor mehrerer Fachbücher über Information-Retrieval-Systeme und Datenbanksysteme. Nach seiner Emeritierung wirkt er als Lektor für mehrere Wissenschaftsverlage und hat viele Lehrbücher kritisch durchgesehen (u.a. die berühmten Feynman-Vorlesungen über Physik). Seit 2015 ist er als als Lektor für Korrektur + Lektorat tätig.
