April 1896 Biblio: Professor für Staatswissenschaft und Geschichte. 1859 wurde Treitschke Privatdozent in Leipzig und lehrte dort außerdem ab 1862 Nationalökonomie an der Landwirtschaftlichen Akademie in Plagwitz. 1863 wurde er zum außerordentlichen Professor für Staatswissenschaften in Freiburg im Breisgau ernannt. 1866 übernahm er eine ordentliche Professur für Geschichte und Politik an der Universität Kiel. 1867 wechselte er an die Universität Heidelberg, und 1873 wurde er als Nachfolger Leopold von Rankes auf dessen Lehrstuhl an die Berliner Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität berufen. Von 1866 bis 1889 Herausgeber der Preußischen Jahrbücher. 1895/96 war er Herausgeber der Historischen Zeitschrift. Heinrich Gotthard Freiherr von Treitschke (German: [ˈhaɪ̯n.ʁɪç fɔn ˈtʁaɪ̯.t͡ʃkə]; 15 September 1834 – 28 April 1896) was a German historian, political writer and National Liberal member of the Reichstag during the time of the German Empire. He was an extreme nationalist, who favored German colonialism and opposed the British Empire. He also opposed Catholics, Poles, Jews and socialists inside Germany. (Source: DBPedia)
