4. Information Technology and Australia's Productivity Surge
abstractThis paper finds that the rapid uptake of information and communication technologies contributed to Australia's strong productivity performance in the 1990s and the contribution to labour productivity growth was at least as strong as it was in the US. Australia generated a productivity acceleration of 1.1 percentage points from information and communication technology use and other factors. However, the paper also finds that previous studies of both the US and Australia have overstated the contribution of information and communication technologies to trend productivity growth
