B:1938Hessisch Oldendorf Biblio: Studierte nach einer abgeschlossenen Ausbildung als Landkartentechniker und Ingenieur für Kartographie an den Universitäten Berlin (FU) und Bonn die Fächer Geographie, Geologie und Volkswirtschaftslehre. Von 1970 bis 1976 war er als wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Geographischen Institut der Universität Karlsruhe (Promotion 1975 in Bonn) und danach bis zu seiner Berufung auf die Osnabrücker Professur für Wirtschaftsgeographie 1980 als Leitender Planer bei der Bezirksregierung Trier tätig.
