Sorre wurde 1903 nach Perpignan und dann nach Montpellier berufen. Nach dem Krieg wurde er nacheinander von den Universitäten Bordeaux, Straßburg und 1922 von der Universität Lille angenommen und übernahm dort 1925 den Lehrstuhl für regionale Geographie. Im Jahr 1929 wurde er zum Dekan der Fakultät für Literatur in Lille ernannt und hatte dieses Amt elf Jahre lang inne. Außerdem war er Rektor der Académie de Clermont (1931-34) und Rektor der Akademie von Aix-Marseille (1934-37). Im Oktober 1940 erhielt Sorre den Lehrstuhl für Humangeographie an der Sorbonne, wo er seine Lehrtätigkeit beendete. Death Place:
