Mark Mayo Boatner III (28 June 1921 – 10 June 2006) was an American soldier, historian, and author. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in the June 1943 class and fought in World War II and the Korean War. While teaching military history at West Point he wrote and published The Civil War Dictionary in 1959. The Encyclopedia of the American Revolution followed in 1966. Both works have had several revised editions published. He authored Landmarks of the American Revolution in 1973. (Source: DBPedia)
